Back in the 70s in the area I grew up in, the 3 main dealers were JD, Ford and Allis. When farmers got together they usually discussed what they liked or disliked about their tractors without putting down the neighbor's tractor. Often the choice of brand had more to do with the dealer than the tractor. The AC dealer in particular was nice to deal with, and I remember Dad throwing some business his way even though he prefered the Deere machines. The big tractors in the neighborhood were JD 4020, 4320, and 4430; Ford 8000 and 8600; and Allis 7000 and 7020.
