It does not change over night. A year ago the economy was in a free fall. In October 2007 the DOW was over 14,000, it started sliding from there. By September 2008 it was down to 11,500. Then from Sept 26 - Oct 10th it fell over 3,000 points, and just kept falling until it bottomed out this March at below 6,700. It is now back to flirting with 10,000. It is not where it was in 2007, but it does appear that the decline has been turned and we are moving in the right direction.
Clearly that does not mean things are better than they were at the peak. Nor does it mean that everyone's situation has improved. Unfortunately, a lot of folks and a lot of companies are still having a hard time. There is not an instant fix.
