I don"t know what the Yanmar equates to in the John Deere sizes that were sold here in the 80"s.
I had a JD 1050 that was Yanmar built and a 33 horse diesel engine (turbocharged). That was the best little tractor I ever owned. It seemingly ran on fumes, never ever failed to start in the 23 years I owned it. The original Yuasa battery lasted 17 years! The weaknesses are the brakes.....no worse than an 8N"s, though. And, I always longed for power steering....which was a dealer add-on. The hydraulics were top drawer and for a machine it"s size....very powerful. I sold mine 3 years ago with 1499 actual hours, for $5000. All I ever used it for around the place was to mow 2 acres of grass and plow the garden once a year. At roughly 3,000 pounds, they"re a tad light, especially in the nose.
