A lot has changed sense I was an Officer, Back when I applied, All I had to do is attend the Police Academy, Now days, you need a POST certification, attending a 2 year college for a Criminal Justice is the way to go, each Department have their own hiring regulations. looking for an opening is some times difficult, the Bigger the Department, the better the odd's are. Then, plan on being on the Midnight Shift, for at least 2 to 4 years.
You will always find (a very small number) of Bad Cops in any department, just keep the right attitude and be honest with in all accounts, and you will do fine.
