This ended my short career as the Town Sargent in my small home town. During the day you cut grass, picked up trash or read water meters. Then you put on your uniform, badge and gun belt. Driving fast to catch a few speeders and having the ladies wave to you when they closed the bank on Friday afternoon was your thrill or reward in knowing they were going home safe another day. BUT the day came that the weapon was drawn, it was then that this was not the JOB for me. This was 30+ years ago when crime and violence was as not as widespread and ruff as it is today. My dad was a career state trooper so I was familar with the workings of the force.
