I just finished chopping 60 acres of "green corn for holstein steers that will go to slaughter. The steers have been on pasture and hay all summer and the will get a combo of hay and silage this winter (at least the ones that don"t go to market). I put the silage in a makeshift bunker silo and blew in what i could in a traditional silo. Just keep in mind that the corn should not be too green or too dry. One it won"t compact its self and you will have freezing problems and the other may create rot...
