I just bought my wife a Smith & Wesson M & P in a 9mm to carry on duty. She was carrying a Sig 40 cal but her accuracy improved greatly by dropping to a 9mm.
I teach CHL in Texas and reccomend that unless you are very good at keeping you semi-auto cleaned and lightly oiled at all times; then your best bet is a S & W air weight with plus P 38's. A wheel gun can get dirty and even some rust and it will still work in a pinch.
Semi-autos can jam and unless you are well trained in quickly clearing out a jam, you're in a world of hurt in a deadly ofrce situation.
Any gun can malfunction, but a revolver is the least likely to.
