Old, that was a problem for me several years ago. Particularly as this land was used for years as "public", with an absentee owner. My first year some goofball came out of the woods, easily a mile from the road he'd left and demanded to know what I was doing there, standing in front of my shop. He had no idea anybody was on this mountain, had no qualms about shooting uphill.
I resolved it by posting and leasing rights to a small group (same guys every year, with a waiting list), whose primary duty was to run off non-member hunters. Virginia law is specific about duties/liabilities. So long as I don't charge more than my property taxes (which NOBODY would pay that much) my liability is nil.
The $60/person they're paying is cheap for around here and everybody knows it. Still, gives me several hundred dollars every year and a policing force out in the woods, protecting their rights and my well-being.
Working extremely well. Still muzzle-loader here now, until next Saturday. Normal year, they'll take 20-25 deer, a bunch of turkeys, and a bear. I get half the bear.
Make a formal relationship with a small group, according to the laws of your state, and relax. Part of my agreement is to allow anybody I invite to be welcomed as a "guest" for a day, same opportunity for the club members.
If a problem arises, I make one phone call to the head of the group. Problem goes away.
