Hey Ralph, We bought an '00 F550 crew cab 4 x 4 w/7.3 PSD when it was 6 months old... have driven it ever since. Absolutely the best truck I've ever owned! It'll do anything I need to do... just went and bought a load of feed for the critters yesterday (about 250 mile round trip) brought back more than 16k of feed (truck, trailer and load weighed about 32k) at highway speeds, up and down hills, etc. Rides like a (stout) cadillac! As far as mileage is concerned, it ranges from about 11 mpg (normal here in the high altitudes) to as high as 15 mpg (at a little above sea level) The best I've gotten here in mountain country was pulling our 37' 5th wheel camper up a long grade on a 2 lane road (speed limit 65 mph)... 13 mpg. The nice thing about these trucks is that the mileage dosen't change significantly whether the truck is empty of if "the bumper is dragging the ground." They were designed for work (heavy duty EVERYTHING) and do it very efficiently! HTH ...D
