Emptied 4 1/2 inches out of the rain gage this AM, courtesy of Hurricane Ida. Week befor last it rained on hay had cut. Last week got the washed hay baled and since we had a few days of clear weather I cut some more Tuesday. Did not dry well at all(fescue hay). Baled 3 wet bales Saturday and fed them to the cows. Monday was clear but had to take SIL to doctor's appointment so baled the still not dry hay Sunday with the intention of feeding it ASAP. Tractor and baler gave no trouble but operator error clogged up the baler with 1/4 bale to go. Finished unstopping it yesterday as it was starting to rain, baled the rest in the rain, dumped it in the pasture. Cows cleaned it up.
How is the corn harvest going int the upper midwest? Saw one large field of corn Monday that had not been harvested east of Columbia, SC.
