My idea is to get the biggest battery that will fit in the battery box, the more amps the faster it will turn the motor over, and this sould make it also start faster, and to me this is easier on the starter then having it crank slower-longer to start the engine. This is what I do on my tractors some of them are 6 volt that I have put 12 volt systems on and the starters are holding up fine.Good Luck Bryan
