Since kruser asked, things have been rolling right along the last week. When we went back to picking corn we found some dry corn at last. 21 to 22 seems the norm now and today we harvested the first corn this year under 20%. All four dryers were running untill about dark when we shut one off because it was dry.
We now have about 400 acres of corn still to harvest. The weather forecast is for 6 straight days of rain. Rumor has it there isnt enough LP gas around to keep everyone running so they are being put on allocation. So it is safe to say we have some obstacles between today and finishing. This was sunrise the last day we harvested soybeans. There are a few guys still harvesting soybeans but not many.
The corn yields continue to be very good. Test weights are better than expected. Over all a good crop.
Just a couple of classic deeres earning their keep on a nice day last week.
Today we harvested on a very wet farm. We werent able to get it all as about 5pm the bin got full and it started raining. We had wagons stuck twice today. The second time we spent quite awhile freeing them. We ended up with two of the magnums hooked on to them and pulled them out backwards one at a time. NOT fun! Going home to get the Versatile was discussed at one point.
There it goes up into the bin.
I dont remember what day this was but it made a nice looking picture. Been a year to remember or maybe forget but either way we are getting things done just not the pace we are used to. I hope we can get back into the field first of the week and get this thing knocked out. I'm ready for this to be over but I'm afraid it will still be awhile.
