I am not familiar with a Nelson, but some general things to check are make sure nothing is bent, welded, and everything is square. check for leaks, and make sure the hoses are in good shape. Raise the arms up and leave it sit, with the pump off, should not leak down too fast... Check the condition of the pins- if they are worn and hogged out on a low hour machine then the maintenance was probably not the best...
