I remember our 970 doing that. It's been a few years since we sold it, but by my memory you used the clutch pedal to switch between ranges, but you shift on the go up or down three speeds in each range. I know when baling it worked really good because we'd start in the first speed and then bump to the second and then the third, but when it came time to tie the bale, we'd pull 'er back back into the second and then the first. Tie the bale and dump it, then repeat the cycle again.
