Pure lead may be hard to come by. Used wheel weights from tire shop have antimony, other impurities. If you're casting bullets for muzzle loaders, you need soft pure lead. If you're casting fishing sinkers, bullets for conventional guns, toy soldiers, etc., wheel weight lead will work OK. I like to add a little tin to such lead to harden it a bit, maybe 10 parts lead to one part solder. I got a couple buckets of solder from the local radiator shop by cleaning out under soldering bench. Pretty dirty stuff but cleans up nicely when melted. a bottom drain lead melter works best. (Last time I got lead from tire dealer he wanted $20 for a 5 gallon bucket full.)
