Ok, I know this is way OT, but someone will have some good advice for me. I have a squeeze chute with an autoheadgate on it. I am working the cattle by myself. Normally I am running 3-4 lb steers through the chute and I have no problems. Yesterday I was running 8-900 lb steers through it. I widened the chute since I have larger steers. I would go into the pen and run the steers into the chute. The problem was it appears the steers would start to put there head in the headgate, then realize what was going on. They would backup till they hit the rear gate. The backup would open the headgate farther, then they would go forward through the gate and free. I am wondering if I might have had the headgate closed too far. I didnt want them to be able to slip through, but it seams like I had it closed too much so as soon as they started to put their head in it they knew what was going on and backed up.... Ideas? Tips? Thanks
