I have used the rocks and rope technique and it works very well. Just pour some soapy water and about 1 gallon of "pea" gravel into the tank, tie a rope like harness around the tank and suspend it from to beam in your shop, tree limb or what ever. Pull up a chair and get comfy. As you shake the tank side to side, end to end and over and over the gravel cuts the rust out nicely. Flush with lots of running water, let dry and coat the inside of your tank. done!
