High Zim, After looking into making my own chains I recently bought a set. The right kind of chain, the special links needed, and the end hooks are all available separately. But even if you get a good deal there isn't much money to be saved doing it yourself. If you can wait for the right deal to come along, the cheapest way out is to do as has been suggested by other posters and adapt a good used set to your needs.....Al English
