I have worked with Cockshutts for many years, and I have found that on these models (35, 40, 50) it is easier to take the flywheel pan off, unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel, and pull the engine out. You will also have to remove the clutch rod from the pedal, allowing the throwout bearing to slide rear-ward. Installation is the reverse of this procedure. This eliminates the need for an aligning tool. Any more questions, please feel free to contact me.
