That morning it was so darned cold. Tractor wouldn't start and I had to jump start it.
Battery is a bear to get to inside the cab, so I just used the positive post on the starter for the positive contact.
Yeah, I did accidently short the jumper cable over to the hydrostatic filter and burned a hole in it on the back side. Couldn't see it from the left side of the tractor, but that is for darned sure where the smoke was coming from.
That filter is indirectly connected to the hydraulic suction manifold. Therein lies the area where the air was coming from. :>(
Positive news is that I had a "refresher" course on how rear ends and hydrostatic transmissions are disassembled and reassembled.
Oh yeah, and I ran number nine wire thru every blessed hydraulic line on that tractor looking for "ice". Didn't find any. :>)
