Google maps is fast and easy, unless it doesn't show what you want
Probably next is "Bing Maps" (used to be Microsoft maps) and it has a closeup "birds eye" view in many populous areas. Incidently, the "birds eye" is NOT a sat pic, it's taken from low-flying aircraft. You can rotate the birds eye picture, but what you "really" see when you do that is 4 separate shots.

Last, but sometimes most useful, is "Google Earth," but you have to download and install it---it's a program. I use Ubuntu Linux here, so it was a little fuss to get it up and running.
Mapquest left me cold. I've found few places that it works as good or better than Google Maps.
