I don't have serious back problems, but I used to awaken every morning with a backache. I'd have to sit on the side of the bed and lean forward to stretch my back muscles for a period of time before I got up.
My wife and I bought a king-sized sleep number bed about three years ago. I had immediate relief from the backaches! I've had virtually none for the past three years. I didn't buy the control unit that shows the actual number of firmness. I just bought the control that enables you to run it up or down, so I don't know for sure what number my wife uses. I do know that I run the bed up to the firmest I can get it. I guess that would be a 100 if I had the control that indicates a number.
