I didn't tell him until a few years later, but I had the old farm truck airborn about 5-6 feet. It was my only mode of transportation and I did all the repairs to it. Since then I haven't been able to use the rear tank (88 F150).
I still have it and run it when I need it, but my daily driver is a '03 passat now.
In High School I brought in my brother's car to replace the thermostat in the auto shop. It took me 3 or 4 tries to get it, and one of the times I was backing it into the first stall by the door, I cut the wheel too soon and nailed the front drivers side bumper on the cement block wall. Left some pretty deep gouges, but didn't break the plastic. I told him that a student must have hit it in the parking lot. He died almost 2 years ago, so I don't think he'll mind anymore.
