Used to be alot of manuals from alot of different OEM's that either gave specs and said specifically to procure common parts locally or simly gave the specs and figured the customer was smart enough to use them. Funny thing is even doing this they sold plenty of the parts to people that either weren't that smart to go local or bought them from the OEM along with other parts just for the convienence of getting everything from one place. Usually though the common parts had common prices even through the OEM...... Nowdays they take a common part and do something small to it to make it nonstandard and then stick you with a nonstandard price to go with it. Sometimes you can modify the cheaper common part to work, sometimes not....Then there are the completely custom parts that are not available anywhere but the OEM, when they have them in stock, and you get charged the custom price for those parts too.
