Sure it will... That is, as long as you don't mind putting 2 extra volts to the coil and points. It can cause them to fry prematurely and often. You will also have to 'tweak' the generator and voltage regulator to put out more juice, or you will have to charge the battery frequently. IMHO, it is better to find what is wrong with the tractor and fix it, rather than band-aiding it with an 8-volt battery...
