We had Leylands on our farm and we loved them. Everyone said they were the same as the Long. I can tell you they were not, but had some similarities, however I have not found a single part that would interchange.
A friend of mine had a Long and I enjoyed using it. We had JD, IH, Oliver, AC, Massey Harris and Ferguson, Ford, Case, Nuffield and Leyland.
We used the Leylands the most because they were easier on fuel, quieter, and just as comfortable as any other if not more so. I remember being picked on by the neighbor kids on the bus when coming home from school. My dad was using it to cut hay. They all laughed saying too bad you couldn't afford a real tractor. Of course I laughed at them when I pointed out our 3020 JD that was of about the same age and power sitting with a for sale sign on it.
I still have to say that I like all brands of tractors, and will never sell any of them short.
