If you have room get a group 4D (I think) battery. It is a big 6 volt for tractors. Carry about 850 cold crank amps if I remember right. I used to sell them. Deere dealers get their batteries dry and fill them with solution on an as-needed basis. This ensures a fresh battery rather than one that could be up to a year old. They used this battery in the 4440 and 4640 series tractors so it is pretty common. I put one of these (not a Deere brand though) in a Massey Harris 44 with M&W kit in it. Barely fit under the fuel tank. Seemed to be the best thing short of converting to a 12-volt system. The other key is to be sure you have good, heavy battery cables.
