I've heard that a lot of companies have a retention department, and to ask for that when you're thinking about cancelling their service. They're able to do more on an individual basis to keep your business.
Here, Verizon has treated us fairly since their takeover of Alltel.
I had a good plan with Alltel and was afraid Verizon might make us go to one of their rate plans once they took over, but they didn't.
A few years back, we had a good plan on AT&T. But when Cingular took over they let us temporarily keep our old plan, but when we needed new phone's, they were going to make us upgrade to a more expensive plan. I don't think their retention department would have helped in that instance, since they were doing the same to all their old AT&T customers.
I dropped them and went to Alltel. We also got Alltel's unlimited wireless home internet service.
Verizon has let us upgrade our phones without changing to a higher plan. And so far, they have let us keep our unlimited internet access plan.
But if they ever put a stop to that, we'll have to change providers.
