When you're 17 and getting your ID checked by the same cop 2 or 3 times a day, 5 or 6 days a week, it gets to be intimidation. When you learn to keep your mouth shut, the cops "magically" stop sitting outside your home and your workplace, and they "suddenly" quit following you every time you leave the house.
But it took me awhile to learn my lesson, because I used to think that laws and the Constitution actually meant something in this country. But I'm smarter than that now, because I learned the lessons the authorities worked so hard to teach me.
