I'm no expert, but I know that if the shifter fork is in good shape and the gears lined up, which ever way you move the lever, a gear will be engaged once you let up off the clutch pedal, if you use a cluth pedal. I typically don't use the clutch pedal in my trucks after first gear when I'm moving. Always use the clutch pedal on the tractors though cause never get moving fast enough and the gears aint so sync'd up enough not to. I hope that helps.
