The Iron Horse is an American Spec version of a Chinese tractor (JinMa, I think). Very similar to some Task Master models and Allied. By American Spec, I mean that it has live std 540 pto, power steering, 12f/4r transmission, diff lock...and uses some readily available parts (the alternator is GM and the oil filter is VW, to name a couple). It's an impressive unit on paper, but lack of dealer network is kind of scary, and will undoutably hurt sales. Also, past quality issues with Chinese tractors (5+ years old) have many convinced that all Chinese products are junk. Sounds awfully fimiliar to what people used to say about Japanese products years ago, and they are now the "Industry Standard" in the minds of many on just about everything. Let me know how you friend likes it; I'm thinking about getting one...
