Last trip I was in New Orleans we drove around that area touring old plantations. Was the best trip I have taken in that part of the USA. We stayed at an old platation b&b just outside New Roads, LA which is on the old course of the Mississippi river. The nicest folks you would even want to meet. Most places down that way have tour maps of plantations you can go into. Great Old South scenery and feel. Not touristy at all. Met some folk and went west to Laffaette stopped in at a local road house and had boiled crawfish with corn and potatoes. Hooo Eee mighty fine!! Take your time and take the back roads when you possibly can. You won't make great time but you WILL make great memories!!
