We used to ice fish on Lake St. Clair when I was growing up in Michigan, it does take a certain dedication. We didn't even have shanties, just skated out and chopped holes; wind kept the ice from being covered with snow. The trophy there was a muskie. I only ever saw one caught though, mostly we caught perch.
