The things are horribly unsafe, just to look at. Big blade, bare shaft, long & exposed flat belt, likely poor footing for the operator, likely awkward physical demands on the operator, etc.

It is part of "the bad old days" man!

For a little over a hundred bucks you can get a nice chain saw, far lighter than lifting poles and handling them on the saw table. The new chain saw will have all sorts of safety features.

There really ain't no comparing the two, because the difference in situations is so big. If you want fire wood, get a chain saw. If you want nostalga, fiddle with the tractor mounted buzz saw, but just don't run the damn thing! IHank
