Are the cows skinny? Belted Galloways are beef cattle. They shouldn't look like Holsteins. If their hip bones are protuding, you can see their backbone and ribs, and they don't have a brisket, they're underfed.
We have a case going on right now in Middle Tennessee of some guy who allowed 60 cows to starve to death plus some large number to be seriously malnourished. The animal control people have taken control of the animals and are working out the mess right now.
Last summer a local guy starved a small herd of horses to death. The ones still living were euthanized by animal control.
If I thought those cows were malnourished, I'd be on the phone.
