College buddy and I, and our dates, were going through Airway Heights (just west of Spokane) about 40 years ago. He had a '60 Chev, city cop stopped us and said we had a headlight out. He told us to go to a specific repair shop up the street- was very insistent- wanted it fixed before we proceeded, and that shop had the correct parts in stock, etc.
We went to that shop, and while we were talking to the guy, the headlight came back on. We hopped in and headed out. The cop pulled into the shop just as we left, and sure enough, he was soon on our tail, pacing us all the way through town. Apparently very disappointed that we were a "no sale", and he didn't get his kick-back.

I pulled the head, and soaked the stuck valves with mystery oil overnight, re-installed the head, and bingo, the compression returned.
