In 2001 I traded my 12 year old 19 horse Kubota in for a new thirty horse. Both had loader and 3PT backhoe. They allowed me $10,000 on the trade which was 77% after 12 years. I was happy, even though I know that I would have paid less for the new one without the trade. They do hold their value both because of good reputation and the market segment that they are in control of. That being said I advised a friend recently to go for the 40 yr old 100 horse Oliver because it will fill his needs and he is competing against very few people for it.
