I've used teflon paste pipe dope in the past. Lately have used anti-seize. My fittings or orb or jic. Don't daub it on. Don't get it around the ends where it can get into the system. Just a light amount on the threads as a thread lube so the fittings will make up tight. The teflon paste may work as a lube and seal the threads incase the mechanical jic seal seeps. I may go back to using the tpfe teflon paste after reading this thread. I have a large 3/4" jic that seems to want to drip and it is T I T tight.
I think with the o rings on orb a little oil helps them. Its hard to keep oil off the threads anyway working around the tractor. So the oring and threads usually have some oil before the anti seize goes on the thread and oring. I don't think the teflon will hurt the oring so I'll probably oil the ring and thread and then use the teflon paste in the future on orb fittings.
Main thing with the antisieze is so they will unscrew easy the next time.
Anyone try a combination of oil, antisize, and teflon paste on threads? I have a fitting to change, guess I'll try it.
