My renter and I feel it isn"t worth it- payout is better when it kicks in, but the likelihood of kicking in is way less than the given program. My acreage base is low because of the years of dairy, with a lot of owned land in alfalfa, so the normal payout is under $15 per tillable acre, whereas the guys who were all corn in this area might be over $50. Base depends on very old crop history, and you can"t build base anymore.
