You'd be surprised how well these dogs adapt to house living. They never live in the house, but if like in this case and once before I have to bring them in, they respect our territory and have never used the bathroom in the house (sometimes 12 hour stretches). I get a kick out of the babies from a couple weeks old and laying in a pile will crawl away from the mass, do their business, and crawl back.
If your folks want a pet, have them contact me. Not necessarily to buy something from us, but to find something decent that they will be happy with. Not many breeders (even animal shelters) will let Americans get pets from them. You have to be careful of the ones that do or you can end up with problems. We have the Sheperds and my wife is also a cat breeder (Norwegian Forest Cats) and have access to reputation info on other breeders and may be able to make some recommendations.
