I agree Mike. My dad kept a whistle by the phone and blew it real hard when someone called. Course he was usually sauced enough that it didn't bother him.
I know some kids that have gotten jobs at the call centers. Hourly pay is good but they gotta meet a quota or they don't last long.
I usually tell them no thanks at the start but if it sounds like some kid new on the job and it isn't totally off the wall, I'll listen before telling him no thanks. Part of there job rating is based on keeping someone on the line long enough to practice their sales pitch. I give them a minute of my time. Or else I just don't pick up the phone and let the machine take it.
And even if it is me calling an 800 number, I usually ask where they are at and how the weather is.
