I am the proud owner of a very used 8n. I looked 2 years for one that i could afford but the one i ended up with has its share of problems. It wasnt running when i bought it but after cleaning out the tank and carb finally got it to fire and run. It has a problem running smoothly when u idle it up just a little. It spits and spudders, pops and smokes a bit. I checked the cylinder pressure and its lowest reading on all cylinders was 89#s. I know thats not good so i pulled the head but the gasket was fine and no cracks in the cylinders or sleaves. replaced the gasket and have been running it for the last year that way. I think the rings are probably shot, but im no mechanic.
