Good advice, the assembly lube is like the white lithium grease that comes in a small tube. It won't run out when sitting for months. Also have used stp, or the other thicker additives. Hangs on the bearings, packing the oil pump is great too, Vaseline should work okay, but wonder if the waxiness in it would do anything to the oil filter? Like plug it? Even if you forget all the prelube, pull the plus, or glow plugs, and crank the engine without compression til you have oil pressure. Then start it. Not a bad thing to do to an engine thats been sitting for years, to get everything lubed before it comes up to idle. John in Nebraska
