I came up with it being an Hitachi alternator. IH part number 1058309C91, replaced by 1430430R91. List price of the new replacement is only $623.29. Better buy two so you have a spare!
The Hitachi model number is LT 120-8. Rated 12V, 20 amps, at 5000 RPM, external regulator, external fan. Neither of the vendors I normally use for parts listed anything for an Hitachi alternator that small.
Your best bet may be to try to find an alternator off a car or pickup that fits your brackets. The pulley can be changed to match what you need on the tractor. Many alternators can be rotated to get the wires in the right location.
It is doubtful that you will be able to find one that has as low an output as the one from your tractor but a larger unit should still work. If the amperage output is a lot greater you can add another wire from the battery to the alternator to carry the load if the original wire is too small. If you find a replacement that has an internal regulator a few wiring changed should make it usable.

A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
