Cows will eat most anything that don't eat them first. Saw a cow in a pasture a few miles away that had a piece long thin metal she tried to eat stuck in her throat. Made me angery every time I saw her. The owner had to know it. Old hay is maybe not the best for them...but if it was kept dry there should be no problems. Horses are a different matter...I would not give it to them.
