You guys are missing the point again with apples and oranges comparisons. The Briggs is 1HP max no more.The electric motor is 1HP continuous and 2HP peak. The electric motor will easily make 2-1/2 times rated torque and about 2HP on the shaft when lugged. Of course the 1HP electric motor will keep turning when the 1HP Briggs stalls with intermittent overloads. Lets see how long it takes for the smoke to leak out of the windings when running continuous at 1-1/2 to 2HP.
