There isn't a tire for automotive/light truck use that will be near the same width and height as a 6.50-16. The closes you will find would be a 7.00-16 or 7.50-16 light truck tire, (235-85-16), but those will be considerably taller and still a couple of inches wider than what you started with. If things are like they are around here, it will also be nearly impossible to find a pair of used tires in this size range, which I presume is what you hope to do. This should be more helpful than cracking on your restoration definitions.
