We can't ignore the H. Ferguson tractors, Harry invented the hyd. 3pt. hitch among numerous inventions.I vote for the steam traction engine for the most important for the entire century. For the biggest of the 20th century,I vote for the Big Bud,16 cyl. Detroit Diesel, 900hp., weight=130,000lbs., built by Northern Mfg. Co. in 1977. It pulls a 80ft. chisel plow at 6 1/2-7 1/2 mph. I realize this isn't what you asked for, but I think it follows your theme.
