You are not stupid. Those things are designed to make you crazy.
We had a two string trimmer that we could never get rewound with two strings, so just ran it with one.
Thing finally quit working and sat in the garage for about 5 or 6 years. I cleaned our garage last week and put it and a non-running push lawn mower out on the curb.
Guess what! As I suspected, by time I got home from work the next day they were gone and it wasn't a trash pick up day.
Whoever removed those non-working items saved me a lot of hassle. Thank you!
