We Have had gardens surounding our house since we built it in 71. Many of the plants in them are originals and offshoots that were dug up in the woods and out of swamps and fields. Our veggie gardens provide us with all of our needs year round. We have been harvesting Asparagus about a month now with a few setbacks from frost. Had spinich last night, and the strawberries have set lots of fruit. Last year wet weather rotted a lot of them, and the blite took most of the mators. Everything else did well.Lots of squash cuks green beans. Broccoli, califlower, cabage for krout, and brussel sprouts and carrots. We also grow our own dill, garlic, chives, parsley onions, We have been using garden boxes for about 12 years now. I bring cow poo down scraped up off the blacktop barnyard up at the farm by the trailer load 1.5yds, about 6 loads a year. That is mixed with all our yard and housold compostables (paper, cardboard, food scraps),grass clippings, leaves, saw dust and sand. I turn this 15-20yd pile( not in the pics.)about 3 times each summer with the Kubota and loader. Makes real nice light soil to work with. We also apply lime and fert. as needed. Hope I havn't boared you all.
